How to Become A Registered Home Inspector in Arkansas

You must  attend a home inspector training school approved by the Board with a curriculum of 80 hours of classroom training.  Correspondence courses or on-line courses are not acceptable.

It is important that you come away from the school with the knowledge needed to successfully complete the competency examination. However, it is much more important, that you come away with knowledge of how to conduct a comprehensive home inspection and write a readily understandable report of your findings.

Obtain a copy of and read Act 1328 of the 2003 Legislature. It became law on July 1, 2003 and is the statute which will govern your activities as a home inspector. You can read and print the Act from this Internet URL:  http://www.ahib.org/pdfs/act1328.pdf

If you do not have Adobe Acrobat to read this .pdf file you can download it at no charge at this URL: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. If you do not have Internet access, we suggest you contact your local library. Most libraries have Internet service.

Obtain a copy of and familiarize yourself with the ASHI Standards Of Practice And Code Of Ethics. The Registration Board has designated these as the standards and code of ethics to be followed by Arkansas home inspectors. You may read and print a copy of these at this Internet URL:
